About the photographer

I started taking pictures at about 14, when my father gave me a Mamiya 35 mm SLR. It didn’t take long to get bitten by the bug. I’ve always seemed to specialize in spot/breaking news – even from the age of 14. The transition to digital photography and the use of the web as a venue for selling pictures is somewhat new to me. The majority of my work until recently has been on film. I hail from the day of having my own darkroom in the house and processing and printing my film and pictures. As such, my older work is NOT included in this website – as it would be too labor intensive to scan those images.

I have been published extensively over the years in various trade publications and newspapers, including the NY Post, NY Daily News, The Bronx Press Review, (the old one – under Jerry Doyle), First Responder News, Bronx Times Reporter, and others.

I have a fairly extensive public safety background, so I am sensitive to the needs of the public safety community. Over the years I have served in a number of organizations, both paid and volunteer. I have been involved with several different volunteer ambulance Corps.’ as well as the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. I have served in a volunteer fire Co. in Westchester and was a member of the Westchester Co. Hazardous Materials Response Team. Professionally, I was employed by NYC* EMS and FDNY EMS, serving on ambulances, HazMat units and as a Duty Press Officer in the Fire Department’s Office of Public Information.

The goal of most of my photography is to help shed the best possible light on ALL of our emergency services, EMS, Police and Fire Department.
